The post-COVID future of primary care

The 3rd Conversation is focused on bringing together disparate groups to connect as humans and explore how that relationship can be a source of power, healing, and fulfillment. In that vein, here are some items that piqued our interest or inspired us this week…

The COVID pandemic has created an atmosphere where rapid change is the norm. How can we seize on that momentum to reshape primary care into a system that works better for both patients and clinicians? Colleen McNally, 3rd Conversation co-founder and patient advocate, says “Dr. Berwick is asking the right questions. Our response: We believe prioritizing relationships is one of the most vital steps to reimagining the future of primary care.”

Described as ‘conversations that unlock the deeply human part of who we are,’ the Unlocking Us podcast hosted by Brene Brown, professor and best-selling author, is a staff favorite. Discussion topics from the recently launched second season include burnout, stress, self-love, hope, play as an energy source, and more.

Health care clinicians need to feel their needs are being heard, addressed, and that their humanity is being recognized. At the 3rd Conversation, we believe bidirectional empathy and communication is the most effective way to accomplish this and create the conditions for systems-level change.
